Despite growing up in the rolling, green hills of rural Southwestern Wisconsin, I was never one of those girls who was into horses. Now I occasionally think it would be fun to have been out there, riding around on some horse, catching glimpses of coyotes, getting scared and trying to ride quickly home, getting thrown off the horse and knocked unconscious while the coyotes tore me apart… Never mind, who am I kidding, I am not a country girl.
I think my early aversion to my parents’ Conway Twitty cassette tapes gave me such a strong anti-country stance that it carried over even to horses. You couldn’t have forced me into cowboy boots when I was a kid. But riding boots are different. They really are the best. Comfy and classic. Elegant and stylish. Great with almost any apparel. They even let you wear a skirt when you forgot to shave your legs. So city girls, embrace the riding boot. They are a wardrobe staple you will own for years that look better the more you wear them.
