Katy Elliott’s blog about renovating her 260 year old house in Marblehead, Massachusetts

I have always been drawn to old houses. Despite their problems and spiders and ghosts, I keep coming back for more. Katy Elliott, who has worked at House & Garden magazine, as well as my beloved-but-gone domino magazine, shares the highs and lows of the entire process with lots of great photos.

I often find myself liking the ‘before’ pictures of houses better than the ‘afters.’ She has tons of gorgeous, clear shots of staircases and doors before they are restored, really capturing the quiet soul of an old house.

For the do-it-yourselfers out there, there are plenty of shots of the renovation in action also.

She also shares photos of designs that she finds inspiring, and lots of great New England shots.
