Indian Lake, the Town of Berry, and Marxville, Wisconsin

Recently while creating a Pinterest board of places I had lived, and focusing on the big, obvious winners like lake views of Madison and mountain scenes of Salzburg, I gave a half-hearted try at ‘Town of Berry.’ I didn’t honestly expect to come up with anything from the rural, hilly corner of Dane County where many of my childhood friends and I grew up. We didn’t always enjoy living in the ‘middle of nowhere’ and were jealous of our sophisticated friends who lived in town, who got to buy candy bars from gas stations they had walked to, without parental supervision.

To my surprise, I came up with dozens of breathtakingly gorgeous photos. I spent a lot of time at Indian Lake over the years, and know the houses, farms, chapel, and tree lines of that area very well. Yet I am caught off guard by how beautiful it all seems now, captured from other people’s perspectives.
