During the Master of Publishing’s Magazine Project, I had the privilege of working with five incredible girls: Ariane, Diane, Kristin, Megan, and Rebecca. Together, we envisioned, found money for, marketed, and launched Magpie magazine, a DIY lifestyle magazine focused on the culture and community of creating. My role in the project was as art director, one I could not have accomplished without the talents of my co-Director Ariane. She gave me free reign over the print design of the magazine, though it would never have looked quite so beautiful without her gorgeous, and our beloved, nameplate.

Unlike other crafting magazines, Magpie would be clear, crisp, and uncluttered. Our readers will engage with editorial content and craft projects through a medium more associated with that of a high-end lifestyle magazine: through a muted palette, soft textures, and classic typography.
