There are several factors that make donkeys a target for abuse. They can be stubborn, which can be infuriating to people who like to be in control. They are not normally aggressive, nor will they run away, even when they are being abused, which makes them easy targets for bullies. They are frequently neglected or abandoned once they are no longer seen as useful, since they are typically considered work animals instead of pets. Here in Wisconsin, donkeys are a bit of a rarity. But in many other places around the world, including some parts of the United States, donkeys are common and, unfortunately, so is the mistreatment of them. I hope you’ll consider helping out this great cause. It’s sad to me that organizations have to be created to undo the pointless cruelty some people inflict, but I’m glad there are people out there who care, who devote their lives to helping others.
