Holly Recommends…

Bayfield, Wisconsin and the Apostle Islands

A few days ago Bill and I got back from Bayfield. We were there back in July and loved it, so we decided to return for a few days. While there, we went out on a boat tour of the Apostle Islands. It’s been brought to my attention that I have geriatric tastes, and it’s true; Bingo, eating dinner at 4 pm, crocheting, antique stores, game shows… My list of mature tastes goes on forever. In my typical style, we were the youngest people on the boat.

The boat trip was advertised as a glass bottom boat tour of shipwrecks. Honestly, I couldn’t think of anything more exciting in the world. Here is what I was picturing we would see:

What we actually saw:

Green blurriness

Despite this, we had a great time on the tour, learned all about the history of the Apostle Islands, and had plenty of time to explore Bayfield. Here are some photos from our day:

  1. The difference between your expectation and the reality of what you were able to see is funny. The “green blurriness” is beautiful in its own way, but not quite as exciting as a shipwreck! I wonder if it’s always “green blurriness,” or if the visibility is sometimes better at other points of the year or with different weather patterns. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I enjoyed looking through them.
