Even though I have a partially finished giant latch hook rug in a tote someplace (started in 2000 or 2001, based on a Pottery Barn rug I could not afford), I decided today to start another as a wall hanging. I was inspired by some latch hook rugs I had seen recently on Pinterest, like this one:
I have been needing to spend a ton of time around the house lately, since my dog Bagelkins is having poor health, so I decided to start some winter projects to keep me busy.
The manager at the craft store informed me that no one wants to latch hook anymore (What?) and latch hook yarn (it has a specific rough texture that would make it bad for most things, but good for latch hooking) is not being made any longer, and I should stock up accordingly. I would have taken his advice, but I am planning for this to be a wallhanging, not an actual on-the-floor rug, so I don’t think the texture matters as much as it normally would.
I am excited to get started! I will post pictures of my progress soon.
Looking forward to it up on the wall!
