We’ve been getting to know Baxter and he has been getting to know us. On Thursday he spent five hours home alone. I wasn’t very worried about it since he’d been home alone for a little while on Wednesday. How naive of me. This is what I came home to:
It turns out that Baxter needs A LOT of exercise. We took him to Pheasant Branch Conservancy on Friday. It was FREEZING. He didn’t seem to notice.
We also picked up a crate on Craigslist. We figured there was no way he would ever go inside without a fight, but it turns out that it’s his new favorite hiding place.
There has been some progress today. He got a bath and I actually got to rinse him off this time before he escaped. If he quits rolling in stinky stuff maybe he won’t have to see the bathtub again soon. He had a long car ride without trying to wedge himself between the steering wheel and the dashboard, met my parents, brother and nephews (too scary, maybe next time will go better) and (so far) today there have been no accidents in the house. Yay Baxter! We’re going to keep you!
