A few weeks back I spent the afternoon in Paoli. This tiny town, just a short drive south of Madison, has great galleries (like the Artisan Gallery), restaurants, and antiques, all crammed into an unincorporated village. The day I visited, there was a flea market happening (the same flea market had produced my dollhouse a month or so earlier), so I had high hopes that I’d find some great treasures.
We had lunch at the Paoli Schoolhouse Cafe, where I had the Harvest Salad. It was, and I’m truly not exaggerating, the very best salad I have ever had in my entire life. I had it with the Red Wine Vinaigrette. The hazelnuts were the detail that elevated it from great to amazing. It earns 5 carrots and an elusive radish.
I ended up finding some pretty tablecloths and a small rug at the flea market. Here are some photos so you can tour Paoli too!
